Winter Barn Owls

The recent winter weather has been a bit concerning. But after checking a couple of boxes this morning, perhaps things are not too bad.

I visited two boxes which I knew needed cleaning out. I checked them with my daughter Joanne and was very pleasantly surprised to find a ringed female in the first box. We decided to leave her there undisturbed.

The second box, only about 250 metres away, provided even more of a surprise, as we found a pair of barn owls in it. Again we decided to leave them undisturbed.

All three birds looked quite healthy with a lot of pellets about.

We didn’t get to clean the boxes out, but we left very happy with what we had found.
