Barn Owl Movements

2019 has started quite optimistically. A number of boxes have been checked, principally for maintenance and cleaning out purposes. However, in so doing, a number of barn owls have been found – all looking quite healthy.

But interesting, and relatively inconsistent, movements have been found. One barn owl, which had been ringed in the Crewe area last year, was found to have moved northwards to a box near Weaverham – whilst another bird, ringed in Antrobus last year, was found to have moved southwards to a box near Middlewich.

We will have to keep a watchful eye on developments this year to see if these inconsistent movements are repeated.
